My exposure to living in different cultures with an extremely extroverted husband has moved my natural level introversion from the I to the E side by force. Hosting in your own culture is one thing. Hosting in another requires a completely different level of listening. We made a lot of friends just by listening - listening to their stories and learning about their cultures without imposing our own or even making the comparison a part
of the conversation.
On our ten year wedding anniversary we gave "glamping" a try and it won us over tenfold. One year later in the Santa Cruz Mountains, GlampL& (Glampland) was born and we achieved Superhost status
with our first assessment.
Life changed for us and we chose to move to Portland in 2020. We found a way, despite the insanity of the Covid-19 pandemic, to continue to employ our gift of hospitality by opening The Fireside Suite - a cozy 2 bedroom fireside stay convenient to all things Portland.
